E-Commerce in Dubai

by Julia Jackle - Dec 10, 2018

The Middle East, particularly the UAE are the fastest growing markets for E-Commerce businesses. Not only brands like Gucci, Georg Jensen and Oud Milano are coming forward with their digitalization, a general shift to E-Commerce is the trend, across industries. Despite Fashion, Beauty and Consumer Electronics being the leading industries, we see more and more niche industries to gain traction and succeed.

Mid 2017 Creative971 signed an official MOU with the TRA (Telecommunication Regulatory Authority in Dubai) to boost E-Commerce within the country.  The government care to support a sector like E-Commerce, is showing the future. And the future is backed by numbers, the GCC E-Commerce market is expected to hit 20 bn USD worth of sales by 2020. Just imagine this rapid growth with the GCC’s young population and high purchasing power. Around 70% of online purchases are made by the young population below 31.

It is likely to be understood that allover in the past years, E-Commerce has grown extensive and the trend is to be continued. The leader amongst this growth is the UAE, which is alone expected to generate 50% of the E-Commerce transactions within the Middle Eastern region.
